Ann Aikin leads the digital communications efforts at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Center for Tobacco Products (CTP). In this role, Ann works to reduce the burden of tobacco use in the United States by developing, enhancing and evaluating the use of web, social media, and mobile technologies to meet CTP’s mission. Before joining CTP, Ann worked at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on the Social Media Team.

At CDC, she developed integrated social media strategies and innovative communication products for use in a variety of health communication campaigns, health marketing efforts and emergency responses, including the novel H1N1 pandemic, the Haiti Earthquake, and the Peanut Butter and Peanut Containing Product Recalls. Before working for CDC, she spent two years in the U.S. Peace Corps, working for the Jamaican Ministry of Health and the Kingston and St. Andrew Health Department. She holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in journalism and political science and a Master of Arts in communications.
